Hardware Hacking Kampung | SINCON 2025

Updated: May 12

The Hardware Hacking Kampung is a 2-day immersive, hands-on experience crafted to introduce participants to the exciting world of hardware hacking and IoT security. Leveraging custom-designed CompatrIoT Boards, attendees will dive into critical hardware security domains, take part in interactive demo stations, solve CTF challenges, and join a gamified Hardware Scavenger Hunt.

Whether you are a beginner taking your first steps into embedded systems security or an experienced hacker looking to test and sharpen your skills, the Kampung is designed to offer something to everyone, from foundational knowledge to advanced attack surfaces.

6 Interactive Demo Stations

SINCON 2025 Hardware Hacking Kampung will feature 6 stations, each with mentors to guide participants through essential hardware hacking domains:

  • Station 1: Firmware Extraction and Analysis

  • Station 2: Side Channel and Fault Injection

  • Station 3: Wireless Protocol Exploitation

  • Station 4: Hardware Protocol Analysis

  • Station 5: Soldering and PCB Reversing

  • Station 6: NFC / RFID Exploitation

Important Note:

All participants will be provided with a CompatrIoT Board during the Hardware Hacking CTF. These boards are for on-site use only, and must be returned after the activities. Participants interested in taking home a hardware keepsake can pre-order the exclusive SINCON 2025 Hardware Hacking Kampung badge — available as an add-on item at SINCON 2025 registration. Pre-order discounts are available via the SINCON 2025 ticket purchasing site [here]. For those who have already purchased tickets, you can 'modify' your registration to purchase this add-on item as well.
