Attacking Offensively For Defense — by Keith Rayle

#IICSG2019 Conference Insights Track

Day 2 (20 Jun 2019)

10.30am—11.15am

@ Breakout Room 2

Abstract

Offense is the new defense. In Cybersecurity, you can only defend against your adversaries when you understand how they think so you can determine, with a greater degree of accuracy, what they are targeting. You need to understand their attack methods, techniques, and tools in a perspective that provides a clear view of the what, why and how. This talk examines the world of artificial intelligence and the use of it in linked systems to monitor, intercept, and stop malicious cyber attackers attempting to infiltrate your organization.

Learn how to use powerful machine-based countermeasures to effectively and safely defend your network, learn from your advisories, and intercept malicious cyber threat attackers attempting to access your organization.

The methods and topics covered in this talk include:

  • Defining the Problem – prevention is simply a failed perspective.

  • Artificial Intelligence – the history and workings of it.

  • Setting up defense-in-depth using artificial intelligence.

  • Using attacker footprints and efforts against them - catch malicious hackers and rogue devices.

  • Problems and considerations with deployment techniques.

  • The future of AI – cybercriminals vs. security professionals.

Learn why a powerful and automated offense is an essential part of cybersecurity defense.
